    What makes it fun

See the city from City Hall's 30th level. City Hall is the city's third tallest structure. The distance from the sidewalk at the north entryway to the top of the structure is 443 feet. It dominates the downtown skyline due to its location on a hill. When it was first constructed, it was the highest structure in the state. It is still one of the country's tallest city halls. The structure has neoclassical or beaux arts architecture, but it is particularly noteworthy for its art deco elements and adornment.

I was very excited to see this but it was a no go. The observation deck is rarely ever open, has really limited hours and is quite difficult to get to. You have to schedule a week in advance on the website as well. This is really such a huge missed opportunity. Simple hours and a cover charge to visit would cover staff and maintenance and become a major tourist attraction for the city and the City Hall. The views look like they would be gorgeous, but we were not able to experience them. If you’re going to try and do this, plan well in advance and book it, and watch the weather. Bad weather they will not be open the day of or the day after. Not really recommended, a waste of parking fees and time.

I've waited 3 years to see this because back in 2021 it was closed due to covid. This time I took a chance and just walked in and I lucked out. Escorted by a young female security guard we rode the elevator to the 28th floor and then there were a couple of floors of stairs you had to walk up. I was a little surprised because I thought it would be an enclosed deck but no you were almost like on an open roof deck. I admit I was quite nervous and a little shaky because it was a little windy. I didn't stay long and was ready to leave when the time came.

We came to City Hall rather spontaneously and were immediately given a tour. Very worthwhile. Great view over the entire city. Normally the tour must be booked online. We were just lucky and thank you again.

I was excited about this and you have to email them and set up a date to come. They only take people Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 10-2 despite the website saying 4. So finally we are told a date we can come so we get there and are told it rained that morning so the observation deck is closed and we have to redo the whole process and when we get there during the week again we might be told sorry no again! I was excited but it has been nothing but a headache!

Super under the radar attraction. The views are stunning. Well worth the effort.
