What makes it fun
On June 26, 1804, the Lewis and Clark Expedition arrived at Kaw Point, the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri rivers. The expedition stayed at Kaw Point for three days to rest, repair their boats, explore the local area, and engage in martial law for the first time on their journey. Today, Kaw Point is in the heart of metropolitan Kansas City, with a lovely perspective of downtown, but the Point itself is still in a natural form, with beautiful forested trails, wildflowers, and wildlife. The park, which is located along the river, has easy access to highways, the Lewis and Clark Historic Trail, and two magnificent rivers.
