Lyric Opera transforms opera experiences through our performances and outreach and education activities. The Lyric Opera, founded in 1958, offers high-quality live operatic performances to the cutting-edge Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Repertory selections include original language performances of standard repertoire as well as contemporary and American operas, such as a 2015 staging of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Silent Night. The Company's mission is to present productions that both improve the community and reflect the highest aesthetic standards of the industry.

The Lyric itself is 5 stars. Their customer service is 0 stars. My mother recently moved away and was told to, "Have a nice life" when she asked to be removed from their mailing lists.

Amazing show and amazing staff. The music and setup are very nicely pit together. The parking is very mice as well and there are areas on both sides of the building to park. Very interactive, and the staff was wonderful about talking with the audience to get them engaged with what is going on.

What can I say, I'm biased. I have seen these buildings transform from an old warehouse with leaks and terrible acoustics to a wonderful, state-of-the-art venue not just for the Lyric, but many local community organizations and events. The company is a great steward of the resources many in the community put in their hands through one of the most successful capital campaigns this city has ever seen. Coming here for rehearsals or events always feels like coming home to me.

I really love going to the opera. Unfortunately nobody in my inner circle shares the feeling (they are culturally challenged) so I am going to have to go solo in the future but this shan't stop me because the Lyric Opera is WORTH it. The music. The costumes. The strong, beautiful voices. The foreign language that I can't understand! The whole experience is fabulous and everyone should go at least once in their life. We are so lucky to have this gem here in Kansas City - think of all the underprivileged cities that don't have access to opera. Support the arts!

Saw Puccini's La Boheme. It was my first opera, and I had no idea of what to expect. However, I am so glad that I gave it a go because it was well done. The theater is absolutely stunning and considering I sat way up in the balcony I can honestly say there is not a bad seat in the house. I also enjoyed the little subtitle screen that was in front of my seat that allowed me to follow along to what was being said/sang. Wonderful time and as time and money allows I will definitely be back

Attended a fabulous Exploring the Score talk by David Charles Abell about West Side Story which he will be conducting later this month. We will certainly try to attend these for the other Lyric Opera productions from now on.

Selections from Rigoletto by Lyric's resident artisrts tonight left me wanting more Rigoletto. Fine performances by all. I am glad I have tickets for the full production next week.
