What makes it fun
The fountain's statuary, weighing 16,000 pounds, dates from the 1700s and stood in a Venetian square for 300 years. In the early 1920s, the figurines were brought over from Italy. The statue was installed on a central pedestal in an 80-foot-diameter pool. The three mythological sea horses seated atop the stone pyramid inspired the name of the fountain. The sea horses are holding a fluted saucer with carved lion heads that spout water when the saucer fills. The middle layer features three cherubs carrying a miniature saucer. The top tier features a youngster and a fish sculpture.
