What makes it fun
Wheeler Williams created the "Muse of the Missouri" fountain. Mr. and Mrs. James Kemper, Sr., of a prominent Kansas City banking family, provided the city with this fountain in memory of their son, Lt. David W. Kemper, who was killed in action in Italy during WWII. The bronze nude represents the Greek goddess of music, poetry, and numerous arts and sciences. The statue depicts the Missouri River's Spirit. The Muse is holding a net overflowing with fish. In this fountain, 200 sprouts of water form pools.
