    What makes it fun

Penn Valley Park was established in what was originally known as Penn Street Ravine. This 130-acre park, which houses the Liberty Memorial and the National World War I Museum, is rich in history. The gardens, which were built in 1904 on land where the Santa Fe Trail had crossed, are home to commemorative statues such as The Scout, the Pioneer Mother Memorial, and The Hiker. There is also a 3-acre lake, an off-leash dog park, a skate park, a 2-mile exercise route, tennis courts, and ball fields in the park.

Absolutely beautiful park. A large portion of it is dedicated to our Veterans (emphasizing WW1). The museum itself is an amazing testament to our support of a free world. Both sides of the conflict are very well represented, and really helps drive the message home for future generations to not make the same mistakes. I would highly recommend this for any military buff or any general history geek. It's an amazing trip into 1914-18.

It's always fun hanging out around the park and the Liberty Memorial. The grounds are well taken care of. They put a really nice effort into putting the grounds back together after large events like the NFL Draft.

I really wish they would start doing the large concerts there again. Those were fun!

We went to the world war I museum and let me tell you it is breathtaking the amount of detail of everything inside is amazing. The staff is so friendly and willing to help you with anything you need if you've not been there this is a place you need to be very educational I highly recommend spending a day

Lovely place for a stroll early in the morning. Rolling hills with ponds and lots of fall color. Monuments, museums and statuary scattered throughout the park as well as tennis courts and a large dog park. There is traffic through the park but it’s fairly manageable to cross streets when you have to.

I was driving by, but this park is a nice reminder that cancer is something that affects us all. I'm glad this park is right where it is so motorists can be reminded to reflect and remember the one who passed.

Love this place, I am a huge history fan and we have visited many times but every time I learn something new or see something I didn't see before, we tried the tower for the first time absolutely beautiful view of the Kansas city skyline. The park and surrounding area is so pretty just wished it hadn't been so cold and wind so we could have stayed and enjoyed the park a little more. Definitely educational and emotional, if you love history this is a must.

I love going to this park and enjoying the sunsets and being able to see downtown so greatly and just taking some pix. It's usually not extremely busy and it's surprisingly not trashed either. They don't have any kind of playground for the little ones, but they've got a decent skate park, a couple of tennis courts and if I remember correctly they also have a basketball court. I just can't wait for it to warm up again so I can stay out there for a longer time period
