Thankfully we were just going through there on the southwest chief. We didn't have to stop .we were there last during covid and were harrrased by the police for not staying in the amtrak waiting room .it was a very frustrating experience

Union Station has a planetarium, Science City (wonderful for kids), the Extreme Screen movie theater, a small stage theater, a couple restaurants, a cafe, a Rocky Mountain Chocolate, and a Rally House. The exhibit changes a few times a year; they've had some really cool ones over the years! A lot of their spaces are available for event rental.

You could easily spend an entire day here if you took your time and participated in all there is to offer. There is a children's science center museum, traveling exhibits, shopping for all things Kansas, two restaurants and a coffee shop, a movie theater, a planetarium, a couple of other museums, a post office, and more. And of course you can catch a train there! My family and I hadn't visited for years, but I'm glad we went.

Union Station has so many reviews already. And the photos I am adding are nothing new. I went to the Planetarium today. You cannot take pictures inside of it, but worth checking out. The entrance fee is not bad. The narration of the Solar System show is catered for both kids and adults. More so for the kids. They have other shows as well. I remember this place as a kid when it was a full fledged train station. The long hallway pictured was full of long bench seats. It was like our airports of today, full of people waiting for numerous trains coming and going. The station still has Amtrak trains , but is only a small part of the station now. Worth a look for sure if you are in KC. Lots to see and do.

This is a majestic and wonderful place. Anyone living or visiting KC should spend some time here, learning about history, watching people and having fun.

Union Station is the soul of Kansas City. Less a train terminal than it was built to be, the place nonetheless invariably teems with the vitality of people from everywhere who are going places, doing things, and experiencing the journey. Wherever you want to go in life, you can get there from Union Station in Kansas City.

Awesome place to spend a day.

We visited at Christmas time and that added more beauty because of the lights.

The train exhibition was very nice and interesting to watch. They decorated a hall with lights and had so many events. Kids can easily spend and enjoy a day. They set up a lot of photo frames where you can capture fantastic photos.

    Clean and good parking area.

You can experience the "Street Car" which is starting from Union Station

This is a great place to visit. I love the architecture of the building and all of the history connected to it. The basement always has an exhibit that you can tour. It was a Mayan exhibit when I went. I love that you can eat at the restaurant, get a drink, or simply just explore.
I included a picture showing the second and third floors. Most people miss this experience but it is worth it. The second and third floors have little museum exhibits all along the halls to teach you about the history of the building and the trains. It's really interesting and the views are amazing. I even captured a picture of the World War I museum across the street.
We visited with my mother-in-law who used a wheelchair and all of these sites are completely accessible. I recommend visiting and perhaps having lunch while you are there. It's fun for all ages.

My most favorite place of all in Kansas City!! Love everything about this place, so much stories touched my heart I cried on my first trip heartwarming feeling to see this historic stunning architecture been frozen in time. I’ve been visiting this place three times now and will come back for more. It’s a family-friendly adventure no doubt a truly magnificent place to spend with your families. Can’t wait for more special events to come especially during Xmas. There’s a link connecting this place to Sea life , Lego Land and Crown Center Plaza where you can find stores and various kinds of international cuisines.

We visited to see the Auschwitz exhibit. It was one of the best exhibits we’ve been to. The audio guide is top-notch and easy to use, guiding you through the exhibit. While the content is heavy, it is presented thoughtfully.

The artifacts and experience were incredible. Highly recommend if you can get a ticket before the traveling exhibit leaves!

We’ve done many trips here over the years and had a membership a number of years ago when our kids were younger.

Our most recent visit was for the Holiday Reflections(during Covid). We had tickets and they did a good job limiting the crowd, for public safety of course.

The setup and arrangements were every wells space so people weren’t on top of each other. Staff were very welcoming.
