Vicki, Shara, and Bailee Derks, a mother/daughter team, founded Embers Candle Bar in 2018. Our desire to create an experience and foster community has inspired us since the beginning and continues to drive us forward. Nothing is more important to us than creating memories that will last a lifetime, and there is no better way to do so than through the power of scent. We are committed to providing a friendly space to make you feel at home while you make your very own candles, whether you are visiting for the first time or have been a regular for years.

I had a fantastic time with my friends creating our own custom scents. We loved the experience, the variety of options, and the staff were very helpful. We felt like artisans working in our very own perfumery.
What a unique way to celebrate my birthday with my friends. Social experience with a high quality take-home souvenir. I’ll think fondly of my day with my friends each time I light my candle!
On the logistics side - the price was reasonable, the location is situated in quaint downtown surrounded by boutiques, bars, and other activities.

For $50 I expected candles with more scent to them. All I smell is the “wax” and a faint hint of the 4 oils put into each candle. And to have to come back an hour later isn’t conducive to repeating the experience. You need to add wine/cheese and something else to give the customer something to do while they wait.

Wow. As a fellow candle-lover I can honestly say this place was exceptional. The ladies who were staffed that day was very helpful and informative throughout our session. Just a heads up waiting time for the candle to be done is 2+ hours. Jars and spray bottles are a bit pricey but definitely worth it. Loved ever bit of this experience.

This was a perfect date! Entire experience takes between 45min-1hr and is between $25-$45/each (depending on which wax holder you choose). Then there's a 1.5-2hr window to kill while the wax settles, perfect time to walk around the beautiful neighborhood and/or get lunch. The two employees were great! Helpful in walking you through the process and then letting you take your time sampling the massive collection of scents and working on your candle. Highly highly recommend!

Embers is a hidden gem in downtown Lee’s Summit that allows visitors to combine a variety of scented oils into a custom-scented candle. The oils are wonderfully authentic and interesting to test as you’re deciding which ones to include in your candle. The all-inclusive amount for a finished candle is a little pricey (average size candle is $28), but the experience is worth at least one visit.

My friends and I had so much fun doing this. You choose whatever scents you want to include and mix the scent yourself. You then choose what container you want and the container price is the price of the entire thing. The wax is poured and finished up by the staff. They take 1.5 to 2.5 hours to set depending on candle size. I think the smallest was 8 oz and largest was 15 or 16 oz. Mine was the larger container and has two wicks. We hung out in downtown LS until they set. Great staff and good hang out activity.
