    What makes it fun

The Hilton President building, which has been recognized by Historic Hotels of America, has proudly and elegantly stood in downtown Kansas City's Power and Light District since 1926. Our hotel is surrounded by theaters and restaurants making great eats and incredible entertainment all in walking distance. Experience our authentic 20s-style hangouts, once commonly visited by the likes of Frank Sinatra.

I had a disappointing stay at this Hilton hotel recently. Despite making several specific requests through the Hilton app, including a room change from the fourth to the ninth floor, none were honored. The staff was notably rude and unhelpful. Additionally, my room was not ready by the promised 3 PM check-in time, and the lack of available laundry facilities only added to the inconvenience. Overall, it was a frustrating experience that fell short of the usual Hilton standards.

Beautiful historical building which retains much of its original splendor. Modernization is subtle and well executed. Rooms are dead silent and quite elegant.Great location, all the great venues are well within walking distance.Spent four night here in business last week. Next time I’m in KC, I know where I’ll be staying.

In a very old building. So spaces pretty constrained. Impacts room design (smallish) but mostly gym. Super super small and feels full with two people. Three is a crowd literally. Nice staff though. Great central downtown location.

This is my first stay ever at a Hilton hotel, and was booked for a week for business. This hotel reminded me a lot of the Omni William Penn in Pittsburgh, but not quite as ritzy. Same basic theme, feel and great service from everyone on the staff. On the plus side, the room was clean beyond my expectations, the hotel was also well kept. Room was out of date, however. No fridge, Netflix and the bathroom could use a more modern touch. Bed was alright, pillows felt like they were very old. Coffee shop was adequate, breakfast and the fitness room left a lot to be desired. That’s why 4 star review instead of 5.The front desk brought me up a fridge for free upon my request, and did everything possible to make my stay pleasant. Location was unbeatable. I may actually try Hilton again sometime because of this hotel. Based on this experience, their standards are certainly higher than most every Marriott I’ve been to, certainly the two downtown in KC.

An old ice building converted to a hotel. The lobby and rooms were small. Came here on a recommendation from a family member who said the building was cool. The staff is not very friendly and helpful. Will not answer the phone from the guest room. Was here for 5 nights no room service ever. Had to call from my personal phone to get someone to answer about getting extra towels. Only to have the employee act like we were putting them out. Towels never came until the next day. Many other options in the power and light district of downtown Kansas city to choose from them this place.

We were looking forward to our stay at the President based on the pictures and location of the hotel. It did not disappoint. We arrived on Christmas Day for a couple night stay. The occupancy was low so we were able to get an awesome room with a great view of the power and light district. We had seen a couple of somewhat negative comments on the reviews but we did not have any bad experiences during our stay. The hotel interior is very nice and remodeled. The decor was great and it paired very well with the snow out on the street. The breakfast was not served on our first morning due to the low occupancy but there were plenty of options within walking distance. The did try out the breakfast buffet the following morning and it was quite nice. They had your typical breakfast items like eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon and sausage, cereal, and pastries. They also offered some bagels, and we were surprised to see salmon and capers for a nice lox bagel. The cost of the meal was $15/person. The dining room was quite nice and our server gave us some tidbits of history of the room and hotel. If you are driving a vehicle, the cost for parking is $24/day and it is rolled in to your bill. The parking garage is not connected to the hotel. As a matter of fact, the location of the hotel on the map is shown incorrectly. That location is for the parking garage but the hotel itself is just a few steps away, across the alleyway. I did submit a request to adjust this through Google maps so that the hotel entrance is shown at the correct location. There are also plenty of coffee shops, bars, restaurants and even a grocery store nearby so make sure to take a walk during the day or night when you are here. Take a pic with the Heart KC sign at the TMobile Center a few blocks away.Enjoy y'all!

The hotel is exactly as you'd expect a hotel called "President" to be. Dignified and... have you seen many hip, energetic young presidents lately? There were a couple but generally these have been old dudes with lots of character. As is this place. The restaurant was closed (for good?) however the bar served food and it was very reasonably priced and of exceptional quality... try the mashed potatoes, you won't be disappointed! My room was spacious and comfortable but a fraction of a star off for pillows... could be better. Thank you staff and especially Ken at the front desk for a hearty warm welcome!

We highly recommend the Hilton President for your wedding or special event. We had such a wonderful experience from the start of our planning through the day of the event. The staff were attentive, professional, and very easy to work with.A very special thanks to Maurine Lenahan, Wedding Coordinator, who provided excellent recommendations to enhance our original plan to make our day perfect. Maurine is very enthusiastic and enjoyable to work with and made sure the bride and mother of the bride were relaxed and did not have to stress the details. Maurine managed the event to our exact specifications, and she stayed in constant contact leading up to, during and through the conclusion of the event. We had many family and friends that stayed at the Hilton President before and after the wedding and they continue to rave about the beauty and history of the hotel. The lobby mezzanine was perfect for our cocktail hour and the ballroom was stunning for the dinner and dance. We really believe this is a top choice in Kansas City for a wedding venue that must be on your list to host your special event. Bob and Lisa B.
