My husband and I booked a room for 5/18-5/20. On 5/18 I purchased a Coke bottle from the vending machine on the 6th floor and took it to my room. Nothing appeared off with the drink. On 5/19, we left the hotel for most of the day.
When we came back, we got Togo food from Gram and Dunn and took it to the room. I took a drink of the same Coke bottle and it tasted like a dissolved pill. I emptied the bottle in the sink and found a large partially dissolved capsule.
I brought the capsule and bottle to the front desk to find out if someone had entered our room. Manager Monica asked if she could take the capsule and bottle to investigate and said she would call us. She called and said no one entered our room. I did some research and this has happened to other people in coke bottles.
We went back to the front desk immediately after the phone call. to collect the capsule and bottle, as both my husband and I had ingested it and wanted to have it in case we had a medical emergency. Monica stated she threw it away after we got off of the phone (less than 5 minutes from us walking downstairs).
I asked if she could collect it from the trash because if we were to have a medical emergency we would want it to be able to be tested to potentially save our lives. The neglect of throwing this away was extremely off putting. She went to the back for around 20 minutes and came back and said it was taken to the dumpster…in 5 minutes. Which means it was most likely thrown away shortly after gave it to her - no regard to our safety. She should not have taken the items just to throw them away.
My husband and I are extremely bothered by the handling of the situation and will not be returning to the Argosy. We will also be advising our friends and family to take their business elsewhere. It felt like there was zero concern with the issue and we are very disappointed.
