There is a lot that can happen around a cup of coffee. The coffee industry has made a name for itself over the years by creating comfortable environments, sparking community and fellowship, and enjoying a really good cup of coffee. We hope to bring light and joy to your coffee experience. We proudly use Good Citizen Coffee Co. Beans and Hugo Tea. All baked goods and sandwiches are prepared in-house.

I really loved this coffee house. Super friendly and cozy. They have really good tea as well if you're not in the mood for coffee, but super helpful in asking if alternations are needed in the coffee or tea. I also had the cranberry scone, which was delicious!!! They brought it to me and was served perfectly warm and delicious!!! When I need some more coffee grounds, I'll be stopping in to get some for home in the near future. Lots of good seating available were you can visit with friends and family or just have a space to work of you want to get out of the house.

The tea is high quality and the food is all homemade. My friends have said the coffee is high quality too. The staff is friendly and warm. Best London Fog!

Both the drinks and service at Joy are absolutely phenomenal! I was on my way to an event and needed to pick up drinks for everyone, so I ordered ahead and they had everything ready and waiting for me when I got there… 100% perfect, as ordered! If you’re in the area, I highly recommend you go to Joy Coffee! Big shout out to Moriah too… She was especially helpful!

Considering this is the only local coffee shop in Independence, it is everything you want and need out of a coffee shop! This is my go-to work space close to home. Their blueberry scones are wonderful! It has an amazing atmosphere with upbeat music and lots of different types of sitting spaces.

Joy Coffee is SO great. The place is fun, spacious and decorated well. The baristas are always super friendly and knowledgeable. Everything you can order is always so delicious! It is conveniently close to me and I'm so happy about that! Such a go to spot.

This place has a Speakeasy vibe to it and it's awesome.
We're visiting from out of town and wanted to go somewhere special for our last night in town.
Get the charcuterie board, it's absolutely beautiful, not to mention delicious.
Our server, Ted, provided exceptional recommendations and service. We ate our meal while listening to live jazz music.

Listen, this place is expensive, but the food is quality and it's the perfect place for a birthday or anniversary celebration.

We'll be back!

This was my first time visiting a speakeasy. Walking down to the entrance definitely made it feel like the real deal. The wait to get let in on a Saturday night was about 25 mins., which isn't too bad for a place that can only seat about 25 people. They have one of the most unique cocktail menus I've ever seen. The guy running the show gave great recs/descriptions and was super cool. The whole vibe was just incredible; hard to put it to words.. you'll just have to go! Terry's chocolate orange and dilli vanilli were both excellent. Blowing smoke packs a MASSIVE punch, but it's very enjoyable if you like the cinnamon and smoke flavor combo. Definitely put some time aside and visit Swordfish Tom's if you're visiting KC.

Amazing coffee, amazing treats. Staff was incredibly cordial and serves directly to your table. The atmosphere is very quiet, with extremely light music. Coffee was premium, with wonderful robust flavor. Will definitely come back in the future for a nice relaxing experience.
