    What makes it fun

The mission of the Kansas City Clay Guild is to encourage the appreciation and engagement in ceramic arts through group and individual education programs, public outreach, and the development of a diverse ceramic arts community. We offer studio classes to students of all skill levels, as well as a public gallery space for the presentation and sale of ceramic art, as well as ceramic workshops. Come and play with some clay.

Great community studio with plenty of wheels, glazes, handbuilding and a slab roller. The house reclaim clay is a steal at $10! ($5 for members).

I attended a Sunday evening introduction to pottery class. The class size was small, which was excellent for our instructor, Huey Lee, to be able to give individual help in addition to his superb teaching skill. Huey Lee led us through the multiple phases of working the clay to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces. This was my first time doing this. He explained and demonstrated every point very well, his skilled potter's hands actually making it look like such a smooth, almost easy process. My unskilled hands had a bit of difficulty, but overall, the class was extremely enjoyable, relaxing, and fun. I am very grateful for the time and effort given to teach the class. I am equally pleased with my finished project - a small cup, bowl, and saucer. I especially like the little swirl of the glaze in the center bottom of the bowl. One side of my saucer drooped after removing it from the wheel, but I wanted to finish it out and keep it anyway. Kind of as a mark of where I started. 🙂♥️

I had such a fun time with a friend at a Sunday evening beginner wheel throwing class! I can’t wait to come back and learn some more. This is an awesome organization in Kansas City!

It was amazing! So fun to be hands on and make something with the clay. Be warned, unless you are going there for a class, it's kind of a free for all. I would recommend going with someone who's been there before or going to the class first. It can be intimidating at first but it's very therapeutic!

The weather was perfect. The drinks were delicious. The prices were affordable. Our group had an incredible time being outdoors but comfortable. Beautiful location with lovely view.
