My wife and I just got married at The Loretto and couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! We chose The Loretto because the price was reasonable (falling right in the mid-range of the venues we researched) and because we really liked having both a chapel and a large reception area on-site (i.e., no need to send people outside or to a holding area waiting for a room to be reconfigured). Our wedding had around 190 guests for those wondering.
During the planning process, we worked closely with John to make sure that every detail was just right. He was very proactive about coordinating timing and other details with our vendors. John was also good about quickly returning calls, texts, and emails. We could tell, early on, that he was looking out for our interests and didn't see us as just another "event" on his calendar.
Last notes on the planning process, but maybe the most important: (1) John pulled some strings and got us into the venue for setup starting on the Thursday prior to our Saturday wedding, which gave us plenty of time to focus on our rehearsal dinner and enjoying ourselves on the morning of our wedding; and (2) John did not ask us to clean up or gather our things before leaving after the reception, instead telling us to go enjoy the rest of our weekend and to return on the following Monday. These two accommodations made a huge difference in how our weekend played out!
As for the day of the wedding itself, everything went perfectly. John directed traffic with vendors and guests, which allowed our immediate families and bridal party to focus on just enjoying each moment. He somehow managed to be in about 10 places at once, which was really impressive. Our vendors included a food truck, a string trio, and a live band, and we never had to answer a question from them because John and his staff were on top of it. The bartenders (which John contracted with) were also great. The line at the bar never got out of control, even with our 160+ adult guests.
Overall: 100% recommend The Loretto to anyone who wants to get married in the Westport/Plaza area in a beautiful 100+ year old building that happens to be on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The venue has a very interesting history as well.
