What makes it fun

The story of Andre's Confiserie Suisse is one of dreams and family. Master Konditor-Confiseur André Bollier dreamed of opening his own chocolate shop, and now his grandson René Bollier runs the business. René apprenticed under his grandfather and father, and trained in Switzerland. He and his wife Nancy continue the family tradition, upholding the Swiss techniques and classic recipes. They have fully immersed themselves in the art of Swiss confectionery, and continue to produce exquisite chocolates and confections.

Andres used to be the place to go when I wanted to treat myself to something special. I had not been there in a few years. I have to say now that quality has gone downhill. This week I ordered soup that tasted burnt and quiche that was overbaked and too brown on top. The dessert selection has diminished and they didn't have the one I wanted even though it was listed on their menu. I got there at 11:00 for lunch, so I'm pretty sure it didn't sell out. Sadly, I am choosing never to go back.

The chocolate is amazing. I really loved it. Everything tastes high quality and so rich without being too heavy. They have a huge variety of desserts, and honestly there’s something for every taste. I noticed they also have a breakfast or brunch menu, but I only tried the chocolates and desserts this time, and they were very, very yummy. Definitely going back.

My friend from the UK and I ate there several times during his trip to KC in May/June of 2023. He marveled at the flags from all of the cantons in Switzerland and the coziness of the cafe. He has been to Switzerland and said it all seemed so authentic and cozy. When I told him that dining had been shoved to the small space in front of the chocolate counters he was dismayed and flabbergasted. The tearoom had been a very unique and special part of this city for st least the last fifty years. What a boneheaded business decision, in my opinion, and a colossal disappointment. Speaking as a lawyer and businessperson, I’ll bet the family owns that property outright. To make the decision to close down the tea room to increase room for chocolate production was just a greed play. It has tarnished my view of Andres. But, then again, I’m sure lots of people across the country can now order their chocolates, so $$$. It would have been so simple to find another location for the chocolate production. I feel sorry for the original owners, who are probably deceased by now, for what has happened to what they built, So sad.

We had lunch in the café, and it was incredible. I ordered the quiche Lorraine and my sister the vol au vent, and we loved them both. The quiche has real Gruyère and Emmentaler cheeses. We had spinach salad, carrot salad, and potato and leek soup as well. It was all delicious. For dessert we had the chocolate raspberry pastry and a frozen almond torte I think? The desserts were light and airy and heavenly. I wanted to come here after being in Switzerland, and my expectations were high. I would say everything I had was five stars. The service was outstanding. The only criticism I have is- much of the food I had in Switzerland wasn’t on the menu here, such as fondue, raclette, alpermagronen, rosti, bratwurst, etc. And there may be valid reasons they don’t serve those dishes, but I would love to be able to find them here in the U.S. My suggestion would be to offer more authentic Swiss dishes, but either way, I’ll definitely be back here when I’m lonesome for Switzerland!

Amazing brunch with great service. I came during brunch with a short wait time. I ordered the Cajun Bloody Mary and super bowl. I loved my drink which definitely had a kick but wasn't too spicy. My food was plentiful and flavorful with a gravy biscuit, potatoes, ham, and sunny side eggs. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful with our orders and making sure we had everything we needed. It's a chill brunch spot and overall eatery. Absolutely loved this place and the food I had.

When in Kansas City, this is should be on your bucket list for desserts or chocolates. Absolutely fabulous! We have been loyal customers here for years. Our favs are the small patisseries, they change around during the year but they also have their tried, true, and trusted ones all the time. Go to the original store down near the Plaza, that's the best one.

I usually come here at night for the music 🎵 but decided to come for dinner one day. Turns out they were also playing live music this night inside as well on a random Tuesday. It’s impossible to hear anyone talk when there’s music inside so be aware! Luckily it was nice enough to sit outside. Got the chicken sandwich 🥪 and it was delicious. The fries are to die for 🍟😓🤤🤤🤤. Large portion. Great taste. The atmosphere and music is usually great and it’s a good time too!!! I do enjoy this place. 👍💃

Took my visiting sister- in- law to this very special place. Their quiche was delicious, as always, and our Raspberry Mocha's were heavenly! Desserts are the treats I save room for! I had the layered chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. Yummy! I also bought desserts to go for dinner later. Setting is Swiss decor that includes beautiful pictures of 🇨🇭 Switzerland! Friendly servers! I enjoy taking out of town guests here as well as sharing with local friends for lunch.
