The quiche was a surprising presentation but delicious. The salad dressing was very fresh and wonderful. The waiter was patient (event parking issues) and not intrusive, but right there when needed. Awesome experience.

My Wife & I dined here for our 5 year anniversary and it was absolutely one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had in our lives. Guillaume made us feel welcome and he spent plenty of time with us talking through the dishes & wine. We loved it and will be back regularly!

My wife and I had your 26 Anniversary dinner last night. We were both disappointed. From the start with the French table bread which is not good, let alone for a French restaurant. . My soup was tasty and the wife’s salad was too. The raclette I ordered was soupy and I frequently order it but not up to your usual standards. The wife’s trout was fishy smelling. She borrowed some of my raclette gravy to put on her trout. Desserts were good as was the wine. Maybe just an off night. I hope so. We went home wondering what was amiss. Warren

So sad that I just experienced Cafe Des Amis for the first time - I have been missing out!!!!!! I truly felt transported to France, was in awe of the atmosphere, the food, and of course the owner who served us, who is one of the funniest, most charismatic people I’ve ever met. No exaggeration. If you live in KC you MUST GO!!!!!!! It’s an experience you will not forget!

I ordered the duck confit, and it was the single best meal I have ever had at restaurant. Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, everything was clean and had a wonderful atmosphere. If there is any restaurant to eat at in the Kansas City area, this is it. I greatly look forward to my next visit.

My new favorite Missouri restaurant! The Lamb shanks was the BEST I've ever had, hands down! No close second! Guillaume was incredible and very knowledgeable/friendly. We will definitely be returning soon.

I was just passing through town and decided to stop into Cafe Des Amis—and honestly, it turned into one of those unexpectedly perfect experiences you wish you could bottle on a Friday night after a hell of a week, I walked in without a reservation and was immediately welcomed and seated at the bar, which set the tone right away. There’s an ease to this place—polished but never pretentious. You feel taken care of without being hovered over, which is a rare balance and one they’ve clearly mastered. The space itself is everything you want in a historic downtown spot—warm, intimate, layered with character. It feels like it has stories to tell, there’s a quiet sophistication that makes you want to linger. And the food… truly exceptional. Every dish feels intentional, rich with flavor, and beautifully executed without trying too hard. It’s the kind of meal where you pause between bites—not because you’re full, but because you want to savor it. Pair that with a thoughtfully most extensive French curated wine list that actually delivers on variety and quality, and it elevates the entire experience. What stood out most, though, was the feeling. For a place that clearly has a loyal following, there’s zero ego—just genuine hospitality and a passion for what they’re doing. If you’re anywhere near Parkville, don’t overthink it—go. The experience is truly what wins the cake here. We started with their special soup a butternut squash with what I believe was maple and maybe brown sugar. It reminded me of the holidays: comforting, warm, and absolutely delicious. Our second appetizer was the Ris de Veau. I wanted to expand my palate… and unfortunately, that was not my best idea. I’m not picky at all, but this dish just wasn’t for me and ours was slightly undercooked. That said, our server handled it wonderfully, had it sent back immediately, and removed it from our bill with no hesitation. The service alone deserves recognition. For our main dishes, everything was solid. I ordered the porc and was especially excited about the port and cranberry reduction and it absolutely delivered. So flavorful and rich. The sautéed sweet potatoes were good, but the real surprise was the braised cipollini onions. I never thought I’d crave eating an onion by itself… yet here we are. Lol. My husband ordered the Truite. The flavor was great, but the temperature was a bit off. It wasn’t undercooked or overcooked it just wasn’t warm. He still finished it, and I tried it as well. We both loved the creamy parmesan risotto that came with it. This is the perfect place for romance. It’s unique, intimate, and the ambiance is something you truly have to experience for yourself.

My husband and I had such a great experience here tonight. Sarah was amazing and understood food allergies so well. There was no dedicated gluten free menu but they were able to accommodate me and make adjustments to things if needed. The woman at the table next to me also had a different type of food allergy and from what I heard they were very accommodating to hers as well. Everything was so delicious and cooked to perfection. This is our new favorite restaurant in Parkville. We will definitely be telling our friends about this place and we will definitely be back!!

Cafe Des Amis is a charming gem of a restaurant tucked into historic downtown Parkville. The restaurant is rich in character and history. It has a cozy, intimate interior. The service was warm and attentive, but not overly attentive if you know what I mean. The food? Absolutely delicious. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor, making it easy to see why this spot has such a loyal following. The covered patio offers a lovely dining experience perfect for a relaxing evening with friends or a romantic night out. Even on a hot night I would have enjoyed the patio. Their wine selection is impressively robust, with options to suit any palate. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Cafe Des Amis is well worth the stop. A true Parkville treasure! The only caution I have is with the open flame candle… I’ve heard a story or two of a break basket catching fire.

Though we had exceptional service and the atmosphere was great, the food lacked luster. Unrefined French food at best. The pate was gritty and way too cold with no crusty bread accompaniment. The tomatoes, though a pallet cleaner, were unnecessary and seemed like an afterthought. Our mains; pork cheek and scallops, were a uniquely low point. The pork dish was rich, which I expected, but had no acid or texture to break-up the dish. It was dauntingly heavy. The scallops weren't cleaned and had the abductor muscles still attached. The dish was also heavy and needed acid as well to break everything up and bring it together. It just tasted of salt, butter, and scallop. The drinks were delightful and shined through the meal along with the bread. Overall a gem to find in a small city, it was a gem confused on its food facet on the plate.

Food was amazing! Staff was knowledgeable about what items were gluten free. I have celiac and pretty sensitive to cross contamination and had no issues. Can’t wait to go back!

A lovely French restaurant in this cute little town! It is located on the second floor so be prepared to walk up a bit. Service is great and our server is polite, professional, and adds a little sense of humor! This restaurant has a great selection for soup of the day which I would recommend trying. My highlight is a special dessert called “Le Louvre chocolate mousse” The presentation and flavor are great!

One bite and it's easy to tell these chefs know what they're doing. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The staff was attentive and personable, and the atmosphere was surprisingly comfortable with music and heaters for their outdoor dining area. We are looking to go back again soon

My friends and I had the pleasure of eating lunch at Cafe des Amis today. I ordered the rainbow trout which came with a salad with the perfect amount of dressing. The portion size of fish was large as the photo shows. Warm bread with lavender butter was also brought to the table. For dessert I chose to be adventurous and had an almond and pistachio cake topped with a strawberry mousse and a strawberry sauce. It was like eating heaven. Our waitresses were friendly and attentive. I was full but not stuffed. My bill was $23 , such a reasonable price for a delectable meal.

What a hidden jewel!! We are so happy to have found Cafe Des Amis. Yes it’s just as good as it looks! This was our second time back and and it definitely will not be our last. Such a cozy and inviting atmosphere. We enjoy sitting at the bar so we can visit with the owner Guillaume who most assume is just a French waiter. Thanks again for wonderful food and service!
