Decided to come here for dinner and cocktails while in town for work based on reviews and the business' own website. Unfortunately it very much didn't live up to either. We arrived pretty early in the evening at 530 pm as their website indicated a happy hour until 6 including drink and menu specials. When we asked if they had any specials and a cocktail menu we were informed they did not have either (they were transitioning from one menu to another) and could order anything we wanted, they could make it. So no happy hour, no specials and we were expected to bring our own drink menu. I can rattle off 20 different cocktails but I can also make those at home, if I come to your bar, I'm looking for your signature or original cocktails, especially if you tell me on your website you have them. And a happy hour if you say you have it. We proceeded to each order our entrees, both of which we were then told they were out of. Like 7 items on the entree menu, and 2 are unavailable at 530 pm. So again, no happy hour as promised on the website, no signature or original drinks at all. And at least 2 of 7 menu entrees unavailable at 530 pm. I had a chicken pesto pasta of some sort which was pretty tasty. So that was a redeeming quality. The 20 some minutes for cocktails to show up when there were maybe 3 tables occupied was also disappointing though. And let's just say I'm pretty sure I could have found a better old fashioned at any sports bar in a 10 block radius We made the mistake of thinking a restaurant in a hotel might be worth checking out. Our mistake, it is a very much just a hotel restaurant and bar. The building and decor and general vibe IS pretty nice though. So expect Olive Garden in a nice art deco environment and you might be happy.

Coming from out of town, I chose this restaurant for 3 reasons: 1) the menu online had items I like, 2) happy hour advertised met when I would be dining, 3) interesting decor/ambience for a night out. Only 1 of those 3 came close to my expectations - the 1920s-inspired decor. No happy hour drinks. No cocktail specials at all. We were told that they were between summer & fall cocktails, so nothing was finalized but they had a full bar! 🫤 Both entrees my husband & I initially wanted to order were not available. At 5:30p on a Tuesday, they were already out. The pretty normie cocktails we ordered took a long time to make & arrive at the table. Similarly, water refills were not really a thing - we were eventually given a carafe to refill our water glasses but that was after sitting at the table for quite awhile. The server was nice, and the bar area did get busier with only 3 people working the bar & dining area... The food we did receive was good, if seemingly overpriced for what it was. Overall, I wouldn't come in again.

Dott Moss was a pleasant surprise! The menu looked great online but was soooo much better in real life! The bartender, John, was amazing and had a very pleasant tableside manner. Every menu item we ordered was A+...quesadillas, wings, mahi tacos, truffle fries, roast papperdelle pasta, and meatloaf. Don't get me started on the cocktails!!! Amazing ambiance and cool vibes with the added bonus of live music. I will most definitely return when I'm back in Kansas City. Amazing job Dott Boss!!!

7 of us went here for girls night out. It's a lovely place and the staff were all friendly and attentive. Everyone loved their food. The bartender created a craft cocktail for several of us and fir those of us not wanting alcohol they had us test a few different lemonade recipes. We were here between 6-8pm and we were surprised the place wasn't more crowded. They do have breakfast and brunch so that may be their busier times. But this finicky diner will definitely return to Dott Boss and bring friends.

unfortunately our experience last night fell short. Restaurant wasn’t full and took over an hour to get our food. It was only okay. Music was very loud for the space. Waiter was newer so not holding fault but wished for better.

We were staying at a lesser hotel that didn't have a working bar, so when we needed to find some place to have a relaxed dinner, we ended up at Dott Boss. First off, Blue was a treasure. Extremely friendly and provided great service. As for the rest, the drinks were good. We had a Charcuterie Board and it was an interesting flavor and adventure. We did eat the whole thing. The atmosphere was great, and the booths were comfortable. It was well lit and overall a great expience. Thinking of skipping out on our lesser hotels breakfast to enjoy Dott Boss again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Easily the best part of my trip to KC! Whenever I travel for work, one of the things I look forward to most is diving into the local food scene. When I was in KC for a week, I had a full list of spots I wanted to try. But for the first time I can remember… I didn’t make it past one place. After some quick math, out of maybe 14 breakfasts and dinners that week… I ate here 11 times. Eleven. Times. Why would anyone possibly do that? Well, have one meal here and you’ll understand. The menu is insane—like “I want one of everything” insane—and the execution is flawless. Every single dish comes out looking like a work of art. A few personal standouts: the chopped club, mushroom Benedict, banana bread French toast, lamb sliders, and the steak vegetable bowl, Tenders, Brie. I’ve worked in kitchens, and this was genuinely one of the most impressive displays of culinary detail I’ve ever seen. But here’s the crazy part: the food wasn’t even the best thing about this place. The people are. On a good day at most restaurants, you might remember your server’s name. Here? I swear I know 80% of the staff—Blue, Franky, Lucas, Lauren, Nicole, Brittani, and Franky’s mom (the sous chef!). Every single one of them is kind, hardworking, and somehow makes you feel like family. I’m leaving KC today, and honestly, what I’ll miss most isn’t the BBQ or the skyline—it’s my friends at Dott Boss. An incredible culinary experience, only surpassed by even more incredible people. ❤️ P.S. Please come visit us in Canada. I’ll cook for you this time. 🇨🇦

Lovely hidden gem in downtown at Hotel Indigo. Loved their breakfast! The French toast, eggs benedict and breakfast sandwich that we ordered were delicious and the right portion for us! Our waitress was super nice! Would come here again.

The farm to table is evident in the quality of everything from the eggs to the bacon to the cream! Service was good even with the busy morning crowd. Get the breakfast potatoes you won't be disappointed!

Excellent service. Awesome flavor. The wife and i visited Dott Boss a few weeks ago during a weekend getaway. Obviously we are not from the Kansas City area. She found it thru Google, and also close to the hotel we were staying at, the rest is history. Visited on a Sunday for brunch. I do not recall the names of the dishes we ordered, but the experience was great. We will definitely visit again in the future.

Delicious brunch! We got the brioche French toast and biscuits & gravy with the intent to split half, but the French toast was so good, I almost ate it all before realizing it! It was just crispy enough and the sweet cream on the plate was a perfect addition. The dinner & cocktail menu looked great as well, so we’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in town!
