Fox and Pearl is a neighborhood bistro that is in touch with the changing of the seasons and takes tradition seriously. Chef Vaughn Good works directly with local farmers to get the ingredients for his rustic and regional cuisine. He uses different cooking methods, like fire, smoke, and preservation techniques, to bring the ingredients to life. Chef Good went to the French Culinary Institute but he grew up eating Southern and Midwestern food. Fox and Pearl is a delightful blend of both worlds.

Amazing food, amazing service, and amazing atmosphere! Highly recommend ordering their house fries - the seasoning is to die for! We ordered the fried duck, their famous pork chop, and for dessert blackberry dumplings! Great wine selection & 1/2 priced bottles on Wednesdays! We will be back :)

We have been here several times and it's my favorite restaurant in KC. If you want a tastefully different take on good food and objectively good taste in atmosphere this is the place for you. Every small touch just shows you how special this place really is. From candy shelled sage with the blackberry dumplings to the perfect sear on a porkchop this place does everything in a way that exudes effort. Some may not see it, but those that do know how rare a restaurant like this is.

I’ll make this is brief as possible.We had reservations for a party of six on A Saturday evening at 7 PM.We were the first of 3 couples to arrive so we thought we would have a couple of drinks while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. Now this is something I’ve never encountered before.I simply requested a “well brand scotch” over ice with water and the bartender looked at me like I was from outer space.They eventually came up with a malt scotch left over from catering something they had done. I BTW expected a blend nothing fancy Johnny Walker red label or Dewars etc. What bar doesn’t stock Scotch?… Doesn’t even have to be a decent Scotch.’We were seated in the basement area of the restaurant, which wasn’t bad. It was a nice vibe.We ordered dinner and it was an extremely long time before we were served.While waiting for what seemed forever for dinner I excused myself to step outside for a cigarette. I noticed on their front entrance something they had posted about passing the 3 % fee they would incure if a patron paid with a credit card. Whenever I encounter that I reduce the amount of my tip by 3-5% . Raise your already somewhat high boutique prices by 3% and don’t announce to your customers why your passing on the price of you doing “your” business . I personally ordered their Italian sausage, which was literally a sausage with some kind of cheese something or another ladled over it. It’s not that my particular entrée tasted bad It tasted fine, but I think I paid something like $30 for an Italian sausage with some concoction poured over it. (Kinda like ordering a bratwurst at Yankees stadium only with a bun and condiments) Since there were three couples in our party, we were informed when the bill came that there would be an automatic gratuity(18%?) I’m not sure because being the 3rd party of of 3 parties seated at the same table I never was afforded a glance at our collective tab. Waitress told us the establishment only had the ability to split the bill between two people. I’ve never heard of this before if you go to their website to make a reservation, it states that mandatory gratuity will be added to parties of eight or more. At least that’s how I read it and then noticed the sign on the front door that basically states if you use a credit card you’ll be paying a 3% charge and who doesn’t use a credit card card these days Whether it be an actual credit card or a debit card, long story short, I walked away totally unimpressed feeling like I’ve been charged peripherals just so they can do business I will never be back. Lots of people give this place good reviews. They don’t have one from me. There is nothing to write home here about this establishment my money is best spent elsewhere.

There are not many restaurants in KC where I leave plotting my return. The quality of the food, the approachable yet outside the box dishes, the service, the drinks...all done to perfection in a very vibey, very inviting space. This easily slides into my KC restaurant top 5 spots.

trendy and cozy, service was easy. "Greeting" at the entrance and the overall vibe came across a little pretentious. We ordered two drinks, a steak, a portion of French fries, and the lamb ravioli, and our bill came to $156, tip included. The food was good, but I felt the meals were excessively overpriced. As an Italian (recently moved here), I couldn’t help but compare: in a one-Michelin-star restaurant in Venice or Milan, an entrée can be less expensive than a single dish here. A note for the lamb ravioli: exquisite meat, but it was filled with tangy cream cheese, which I felt overpowered the dish and made it "cheap". Regular ricotta would have paired better in my opinion. Overall, Fox and Pearl delivers a solid dining experience in a trendy setting, but the combination of price and pretentious vibe made it feel less worth it than I expected

This restaurant is a dining experience! Everything from the atmosphere/decor to the service to the flavors... it is all amazing!! We started with the wings, which packed a little hit and a lot of flavor. Unfortunately, ours were completely uncooked in the middle, but our waitress took them back immediately to remedy the oversight with so many apologies. I had the carrot soup and my husband had the grain salad. The combinations of flavors and textures in both dishes was perfection! I ordered the sausage and hubby ordered the steak. Seriously, every bite was phenomenal. My compliments to the chef! I cannot say enough about how phenomenal our meals were. (Side note, best baked sweet potato I've ever had!) We finished with the ice cream flight. The flavor combinations were unique and delicious. I love knowing that their menu changes seasonally- I'm intrigued to discover what they'll do next! Bonus, when we got the bill, they comped us for the wings, which I thought was generous, since she brought us out fully cooked wings.

It's getting more & more pretentious here.. kinda steals the reasons I've been going here so consistently. Good food, but geez no where near the price lol. Driving all the way to St Louis & dining @ Blood&Sand would be more cost effective, with better food, and without the condescending tones. I just don't get it...

Had our company Christmas party here and everything was excellent! They opened early to accommodate us. The food and drinks were great, and we have a decent number of people who do not drink and were happy with the mocktail options.

Highly recommend! I’ve watched the menu here for a while and planned a parent’s date night based on their fall menu offerings. The food, drinks and atmosphere were all great. Food takes a while to come out as it is prepared fresh. Very thoughtful cuisine and an eclectic blend of flavors married together seamlessly. Again, highly recommend, don’t let the concise menu dissuade you as it may be tiny but mighty.

I loved the food and the service we received. We were there to celebrate our friends birthday. We started with 2 small plates of the peppers and french fries. They both were delicious. For our main course, 3 of us wanted the smoked chicken, but Unfortunately they were out and our server recommended the pork chops. They were delicious. For dessert we had the ice cream and the cheesecake. It was a little noisy but overall we had a great time. I would definitely check it out again.

Our appetizer, the Roasted Bone Marrow, came out quickly. The bone marrow was deliciously creamy, and the bread it came with was amazing. Our main courses took almost an hour to come out, with a lack of updates from our waiter. Ignoring that, the Grilled Flat Iron Steak was perfectly cooked and juicy, but it was served warm (almost cold) rather than fresh off the grill. The Smoked Pork Chop tasted like a glorified piece of ham, would not recommend. The Foie Gras Stuffed Burger, one of their daily specials, was not bad. The Pot Pie with braised rabbit was surprisingly good, but two pieces of bones made it less enjoyable. The cocktails are average. The atmosphere was lively and can get pretty loud.

I waited months to come here for my birthday and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was perfect-intimate, warm, welcoming, and unique. I loved having the open oven fire right there to watch as we ate. The food is all local and absolutely delicious.

What a stunning location and atmosphere for a fancy dinner out for a double birthday celebration. We had a reservation for 7 and all are a variety of different foods. I first tried the beet side and it was good but it didn’t blow my mind. I also got the butternut squash ravioli and the appetizer salad - I’m glad I did because the ravioli was a pretty small portion and I would have left hungry. The salad from the app menu was good! I finished my meal with a dessert float with cognac which was a delight. I love that everything is locally sourced so I definitely can say that but ultimately I have to give 4 stars because I expected to be fuller than I was.

The service was top of the line. I don’t consider myself a deviled egg person but unfortunately that was the best thing brought to my table. The salad greens were soggy, the bruschetta bread wasn’t toasted, the tater tots were tangy and didn’t taste anything like tots. Ambiance is great, cocktails were good, apps were underwhelming and didn’t want to test the high priced entrees if they were even close to the quality of the starters.

Just had the best dining experience! Amazing service, food & drinks. We had the mozzarella & tomatoes to start - highly recommend! Followed by the flank steak, pasta, berry cake and chocolate dessert. There was nothing left on our plates! Absolutely phenomenal and our new favorite KC restaurant. Sharing with everyone - this restaurant should be your next dinner destination!

Historic building with an inviting and interesting vibe. Food was outstanding. I had the meat loaf & turnips. Both were prepared differently than your standard fare, and both were the best I have ever had. Menu is regularly updated with new choices. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu & how each item was prepared. Significant off-street parking available adjacent to their building.

Got to try out their delicious BBQ, which is only served on sundays from 11-3. The brisket was thoroughly flavorful while being very tender, featuring plenty of fat. The pork belly was smoky and also fantastic. Both went well with the BBQ sauce, which was less sweet but a little more acidic. The cheesy grits were a well complementing side.
