My girlfriends came from Wyoming and wanted an upscale meal. My friend recommended Ocean Prime. The valet was so kind and it was only $10! The hostess was so nice and they were very busy. She said it might be a little past our time but it wasn’t. They took us back right at our reservation time. The waiter Adam was fantastic. He was so funny and accommodating. He had some great recommendations. The manager Jeff stopped and chatted in his fancy jacket. The food was fast for how busy they were. The food was so fantastic. The cost was more than a regular restaurant but definitely worth every penny. Get the tator tots and the crème brûlée. The best I ever had. I can not rave about the staff. They were so kind and fun.

I took my beautiful wife out to dinner at the plaza and the restaurant was incredible! From the atmosphere walking in to the highly attentive staff we felt welcomed. The food was delicious! Ask for Adam he’s the best server I’ve ever had.

The initial feeling when you walk through the door is an environment of opulence; however, the environment quickly diminishes into an overpriced city restaurant once you get the first course. I believe in an expensive and fun dinner for a wedding anniversary, but this place abuses the experience. Food is ok. We spent $420 after tip for a meal that had the following accompaniments: 4 drinks, 1 sushi, 1 tartar, 2 entrees and a "free desert". $420? Your money can be spent much better in other places..... multiple meals at $420. They have much room to improve at these prices.

They put the fine in dining. Every course was served to perfection. Wait staff was personable, knowledgeable of the offerings, and attentive. A delightful dine in Kansas City!

An exquisitely curated evening at Ocean Prime. From the impeccable service and enchanting background music to the breathtaking architecture and sophisticated ambiance, every detail embodied elegance and luxury. The cuisine and libations were masterfully crafted, creating an experience that felt both indulgent and unforgettable.
Our servers, Hannah and Oscar, were exceptional and will absolutely be requested upon our next visit. Their attentiveness, grace, professionalism, and unhurried care made the evening feel incredibly special and thoughtfully personalized.
A truly refined dining experience from beginning to end — and such a beautiful evening shared with my mother.
We appreciate the unsung heros too, from the Valet, the front staff who held the door and greeted us, to the cooks in back!

Went on Mother’s Day an hour before they closed because another reservation fell through. The hosts were 2 sistas who were very accommodating and kind. The waiter Gio was prompt and knew the menu very well. The sushi options were some of the best I’ve had- spicy tuna and ocean roll. I had the snapper meal, my husband had the salmon. Both really good although the green beans in my meal were a bit undercooked and lacked flavor. Season salad was very good with the crisped cheese. My margarita was also very good, medium alcohol strength. Expect to spend $100 each per person before tip

I went for happy hour and the cocktails and food were superb. I had the sliders, truffle fries, teriyaki lamb chops and the coolest cocktail, berries and bubbles. The food was hot and seasoned well. The drinks were fun to look at and on the sweeter side which I like. I will be back!

Great restaurant for seafood, or "surf and turf!" Exceptional staff with the most knowledge of the menu we've ever witnessed! They accommodated our party for modifications to existing foods on the menu! That's amazing customer service! Valet, street parking or a parking lot is available! The food was perfectly prepared for consumption, and lit up the taste buds along the way! The drinks flowed smoothly, and the food as well! The restaurant was clean, front to back! This restaurant is located on the Plaza, and affluent area of KC! Although this meal cost a hefty price, it didn't meet the standards of a high dollar meal! I would highly recommend, the appetizer of jalapeños scalloped potatoes! They were divine! The atmosphere was calm and peaceful, rather romantic!

First and foremost, our server was AMAZING! She was very attentive, friendly, and vibrant. We ordered calamari as our appetizer, one of the best we had in a long time!!! It was our favorite of all the food we ordered. The reason for the four star was due to my husband’s steak, it had a lot of fat and didn’t taste up his expectations for the price. He also had baked potatoes and fries as his sides— they were just okay, nothing too special about them. I had the Chilean Sea Bass, it was very flavorful. I really enjoyed it. We will be back!

Ocean Prime in Kansas City never disappoints—it’s my go-to spot for an upscale dining experience that’s consistently top-notch. The steak is always cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful every single time. Pair it with their amazing mashed potatoes, which are creamy, buttery, and downright addictive. And don’t get me started on the popcorn—it’s to die for, with that perfect sweet-salty crunch that sets the tone for the whole meal. We sat at the bar this visit, and our bartender Allison was absolutely amazing; she was attentive, fun, and made spot-on recommendations that elevated the evening. If you’re in KC, do yourself a favor and check it out—five stars all the way!

Moved to plaza area from out of town. Trying local restaurants. Has 4.7 stars. Don't trust the rating . Had reservations. Lady in front looked at me. Not saying a word. Said who I was. And grabbed two menus. Still not saying a word. So I guess we are suppose to follow. Sat down. And a water boy . With same attitude . At least waitress had a better one. Food was ok. Service plainly needs work. Maybe this is a 4.7 in KC. Deserves 1.5 stars.

Jeremy was our server for a dinner my company was hosting for a group of doctors and he was the absolute best. The Mac n cheese was delicious! The broccoli was banging & the chicken was superb!!! I didn’t eat the carrot cake but everyone else had great things to say about it!! The Cesar salad was okay but that’s because I prefer bacon in mine.

I don't even know where to begin with this place. Ocean Prime is the BEST restaurant. My first time visiting was 12/5/23 for my birthday. When I say my server Jamison went above and beyond, he did just that! Customer service was top tier, the lamp chops were amazing. The cherry on top of the cake was the champagne toast complementary of the restaurant. 10/10 highly recommend. If you want to feel like a celebrity this is this place for you. You won't regret choosing Ocean Prime. I can't wait to come back.

The food was just okay. Teriyaki Salmon, just the fish, was the only thing well prepared besides the sourdough bread. Staff was great, valet parking was easy, bathrooms were well stocked with complimentary items. Dark and moody atmosphere gave it a cool vibe but the food was underwhelming. Im sure that they source high quality ingredients, but it doesn’t really matter if the food isn’t prepared great + flavorful. Given the price point vs the actual taste of the items on the menu, I cannot recommend this place at the moment. Maybe they missed the mark this time since there are other reviews that rave about this location.

We had a lovely dinner in the bar with Mikaela. Top notch service. Unfortunately, management is trash. I believe if you spend $500 on dinner you deserve a modicum of respect as a guest.

This is a great fine dining place and the food recommendation is delicious. We celebrated my beautiful wife’s birthday here and she was well taken care of by amazing servers, Jevene and Denise . Our appetizer we had the Surf N Turf- Scallops, Braised Short Rib, and Gremolota. My wife’s entree was the special, Halibut with Parmesan truffle fries for the side, and I had Chilean Sea Bass with whipped Potatoes. We ended the night with warm Butter cake and it was the best way to end our dinner. Great atmosphere and very welcoming. Classy and elegant!

My wife and I had a incredible Dinner at Ocean Prime for our 13th Anniversary. The service and the food was probably too two in Kansas City. Hands down the best and freshest sushi around. My wife had the Dynamite Roll and loved it.she had the diver scallops with parmesan risotto as her Entree and loved it.
I had the ocean roll and I have never had seafood that fresh around here. As a entree I had the Halibut with a lobster and corn succotash. The corn was seared perfect we will return

This is probably the best restaurant in Kansas City. I have eaten at most of the high end restaurants in a 40 mile radius and Ocean Prime delivered in every aspect. The circuses were first class. The food and drinks were to die for. The service! Courtney our waitress and the staff up front were absolutely amazing. We let Courtney order most of our food and drink without discretion. She surprised us and did not let us down. I cannot say enough about this place. The pictures will speak for themselves. This is where the saying goes... You get what you pay for and it was well worth it.

Overall: perfect addition to the Broadway scene in KC! of all I think its a spot for lunch or happy hour as well as a spot for intimate date night. The vibe was energetic and sophisticated. Our wait staff accommodated our requests made during the reservation.
Food: treat yourself to the appetizer. If you're unsure, go for the gouda tater tots. The Shrimp Tempura warmly melts in your mouth and is topped with a perfectly seasoned lump of extra spicy shrimp. Surf N Turf appetizer was perfectly pan-seared scallops and delicious braised beef.
Entrees: I ordered the chicken and hubby ordered the Crispy fish sandwich. I wasn't a fan of the chicken since it was not tender as expected but the Crispy fish with lobster bisque were tasty.
We ended the meal with a celebratory Yellow birthday cake that was sweetened with a big scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top.
Only Con: the music was so loud we had to move our seats closer together to hear each other.
