I went here to celebrate my friend’s 50th birthday party last Saturday and it was my first time there. I absolutely loved it. Definitely my vibe! The music was great. The drinks were amazing! I had a lemon drop martini and a glass of Rose. Had fun and will definitely be back. I am sure it will be really nice in the summer!

Out of all of the bars in KC, plaza, Lawrence, Overland Park and north Kansas City this one takes the cake for the worst.

Apparently it runs differently during the week but good god , my friend took us there for her birthday on Saturday-we each got three drinks two were 15$ and one was 17$- they charged her OVER 250 for 6 drinks total. Redonkulous. My ID/ license was also snatched at this location (which is fine I already got that taken care of) but the bar itself is small so if you have personal space make sure you leave it at the door 🤣 the weekend music is so loud you have to SHOUT to speak to anyone. I’ve been to clubs and this was a lil out there. I have heard about bars in the plaza/westport area scamming the hell out of cards so to everyone going anywhere out here bring cash, and don’t tip on the weekends. If they wanna complain about how much money they made let them complain to the owner of their establishment.

The bar tender said something about me and my friend “thinking/looking like we were too good to be there” and honestly CLEARLY we were because this place was ghetto as hell.

I also want to state that we did not have a reservation- I read the owners to response to another couple who were also charged out the wazoo for drinks and he said the card is charged to hold the reservation- which happens ANYWHERE you make a reservation for but charging a huge amount to hold a reservation, and then even more to maintain and use that reservation. SCAM. Tread lightly folks , there’s someone prowling around here

Was definitely not impressed with manager. Took some friend out to have drinks and heard The Monarch was the place to chill all night and have drinks. Door security and DJ was great. I wanted to purchase bottle service at a table but manager implied that we wouldn't spend enough money to take the space up in his establishment. I'm assuming because I had a hoodie and blue jeans on. He should be explained to that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Will never go back.
Update : Sorry for misunderstanding, as manager stated, we would need to spend minimum of 350 to have a table. My misunderstanding, not used to establishments not having bottle service.

My girlfriend and I were there last night and it was pretty packed. And even in being packed we had a great experience as always. The bartenders you guys have don’t miss and maintain consistency. Thanks for not making any WILD changes to our favorite Kansas City cocktail lounge! We love it there.

Amazing, exquisite, classy, welcoming. From the cosy bench seating to the intimate tables & convivial bar, this cocktail lounge is one of the best that I’ve visited. The graceful thematic execution and encouraging reminder of the monarch butterfly and its journeys and plight, the gentille hospitality of the bartenders, the creativity and perfection of the cocktails & written drinks menu… All comes together here.

Perfect place on a Monday evening when conversation, peacefulness & wonder is the goal.
