The Phoenix is one of the oldest live music clubs in the heart of downtown KC. Musicians play Jazz, Blues, Soul, and R&B for crowds. While musicians feed the crowd's souls, the kitchen whips up great brunch and American food menu items to feed their stomachs.

Edit: 1 star because of the shameful response from owner. If you specifically come in and ask if you can order food and do so with a waitress and wait for it, you expect the kitchen is open. No one checks a website after sitting down and ordering inside an establishment. Waitress would not do anything with our cover after being asked to change it.

Man I really love this place and come quite a bit but last night was an experience the management would probably be ashamed of. Imagine getting inside, struggling to find a table, finally sitting down and being handed a menu and asked if we wanted food. Ordering food a few minutes later with waiter. Drinks come. Several minutes go by and someone approaches and says the food we ordered can’t be made because it’s past 10pm. It was 10:20. The only reason we came was for food. Wouldn’t give us our cover back even though the band never played for the 20 minutes we were there. Left starving. Pro tip- add the kitchen hours to online and make sure the kitchen tells the staff when they are closed.

This is a fun little jazz bar in Kansas City. Talia and her boyfriends were so good! The $6 happy hour cocktails and wine were great and the spin dip and chips were really tasty. Dinner special was fish and chips, it was just ok. We had a great time!

Got here really late on a Tuesday. The vibe was very chilled , the singers were on point, staff was friendly. I was able to find parking quickly. I will be coming back to tey the menu! Thank you !

The Phoenix didn’t disappoint! Local artist Nikki White who appears most Thursdays is a treat and provides great entertainment. Highly recommend.

We came here for a jazz brunch with some of our friends who live in Kansas City, and it did not disappoint. The food and music were both awesome. It's a small space for a jazz band, so it was super loud, but we loved it. A very fun Kansas City experience!

Came here for Saturday brunch 10am-2pm and listened to Alex Abramovitz and His
Swing'n Kansas City Jazz Band. Amazing band which took request from a birthday Party and performed to perfection. My server Abby made a stiff awesome old fashion. Must come if you visit Kansas City! Support the infrastructure which at least pay musicians to perform live! Came back and enjoyed another round of hospitality, live music and drinks by lovely bartender Miranda. Easy transportation by free Kansas City Street car, stop at North Loop, then walk cross parking lots.
