Cheval is a tiny, intimate cocktail lounge that serves wines by the glass, signature cocktails, sharing plates, and desserts. While walking around the candle-and-chandelier-lit space at Cheval, you'll note how the smallest things have been painstakingly crafted for both atmosphere and experience. The bar's decor, the paint on the walls, the comfortable chairs, and even the dainty dishes your charcuterie is served on are all intentional. Cheval's warm ambiance and dim lighting is perfect for date night.

cute and quaint and vintage style with cute chandeliers and brick. Great little stop before a concert or something but they don’t have any food so that’s a downfall.

Beautiful, classy, chill bar right off the streetcar line. The cocktails are innovative and delicious, with a strong point of view (try the snakebite) and the NA selections are thoughtful and well balanced. Service is warm and attentive without being overwhelming. Highly recommend either for a special occasion or as a serendipitous treat.

Best neighborhood bar in Westport, hands down. I love how cozy and romantic it is. 11/10 stars. If you're looking for a cozy, vibey space with delicious drinks and friendly staff, this is the spot for you. As this is our most frequented bar in KC, I feel confident in recommending it, knowing they will always do the best to seat you, even when busy, and their fun menu will never disappoint.

One reviewer mentioned the staff not refilling water: if you need something just ask. They're always happy and willing to help!

The drinks were fine. Service was horrible. We waited for ten minutes in a loud, overcrowded bar. Three of our four drinks finally came. By the time the last drink came, my Stumble Bee had ice melt. Go to Catfish Tom's or Monarch.

Went for the Christmas pop up. Drinks and atmosphere were good. Service was good as well. They were out of half of their food menu, which was kind of disappointing, but they were not expecting the large crowds.

I made reservations for 8:45 and was really impressed with the drinks—they were fantastic. Unfortunately, the service fell short. Despite having three staff members working, it took 30 minutes just to place our initial drink order. Throughout the evening, our waters were never refilled, not even when taking our next round of drink orders, which would have been a perfect opportunity to do so. The only time water was brought to our table was alongside the check at 11 p.m.

As someone who works in the service industry, I completely understand how challenging it can be when a team is understaffed or overwhelmed, and I always extend grace in those situations. However, in this case, it didn’t seem like the staff was simply too busy—it felt more like negligence.

Between the four of us, we spent $200, and I had hoped for a better experience given the investment.

Abso-freakin-lutely adorable Craft Cocktail Bar. Felt like we took a Time Machine back to the 1920’s. Drinks were magnificent, the service spectacular, location convenient, atmosphere unmatched! A must experience! It was most excellent!

We've been to Cheval on Main several times. It is always bustling with a great crowd ... and great staff. The decor transports you straight to a Parisian bistro.

Cocktails were awesome and the staff were attentive and friendly. The vibe of the interior is on-point. It uniquely feels both upscale and homey. Basically the same vibe as Taillleur across the street.

Very small space that seemed to fill up fast and there's not much room inside to stand around while you wait for a seat to open up. So it's better to visit with a date, not a big group.

Expertly crafted custom cocktails, elegant atmosphere and delicious meat and cheese boards...this place is a new KC staple! Katie and Eric are two of the best bartenders in town!

New cocktail bar across the street from Tailleur restaurant. Great spot for a drink before or after dinner at the restaurant or a worthwhile destination on its own. The drinks, atmosphere, and service were excellent. We ended up going across the street for dinner at Tailleur and it was also excellent. We will add it to the regular rotation of KC restaurants we frequent.
