What makes it fun

Chef Amante Domingo created Noka, a Japanese farmhouse-style restaurant. Noka, which means "farmer" in Japanese, is a tribute to Domingo's late father, with the bookcases on one wall even been built from the wood of his dad's farm's 150-year-old barn. The communal tables that seat 20 people apiece add to the exquisite, unobtrusive design. The menu is made up of inventive and visually appealing small plates, many of which incorporate fresh seafood. The serving staff is so attentive that it's practically instinctive for them to clear empty dishes and replenish beverages as soon as they notice a need.

Experience was great! The cod, shrimp toast, shitake dumplings, and the crab campanelle were all incredible. Drinks were also great especially the lychee! The chef, GM, and staff were all very kind and helpful. Definitely a special spot in Kansas City!

Noka is perfect for when you need a place to go to feel special. The atmosphere is perfect (although a little loud so bring a listening horn for the soft spoken employees) and well curated.

They offer many different types of seating but we selected the Chefs counter. We didn't see too much of the chefs but did have nice encounters with the food coming in and out of the kitchen which helped to inform some decisions.

The sushi wasn't much to call home about but I did appreciate that we were able to take advantage of half of sushi on Thursdays. We had the Crab Apple Roll and the Shrimp Tempura Roll.

Now everything else? Absolute gas. The tempura banana? Perfection

very creative and tasty food. the new zealand lamb taste sooooooo good, it melt in my mouth and melted my heart. other than the portion is on the smaller side, everything is soo good especially with complimentary birthday dessert. Will definitely come back.

Wow what an amazing experience! Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. My husband was very impressed with his wagyu burger. They had both a gluten and dairy free menu for me and I had lots of options with my dietary restrictions!! We can’t wait to come back!

Always 5 star service and delicious food! The dry rub chicken wings make your lips tingle in the best way. The cali crunch roll is my favorite roll, the crab campanelle is my favorite side, and I haven’t tried all of the entrees yet, but the scallops and rib eye are both outstanding.

This was an amazing experience. Our server Angel took us on a delicious adventure! He explained everything in detail, he suggested food, he made our experience there so Wonderful!! 10 out of 10 . The food is delicious, atmosphere is intimate , and atmosphere is calming and inviting!!! Definitely coming back !!!

Had a great experience at Noka. The atmosphere is beautiful and the restaurant is really nicely decorated—it sets the tone for a great night out.

We started with the California Crunch rolls as an appetizer, which were really good. For our main courses, we had the Miso Cod and the Wagyu burger. The burger was amazing and definitely the standout of the meal.

For drinks, we ordered mocktails that were a lemon drop–style version, and they were refreshing and well made. We finished with cheesecake for dessert, which was the perfect ending.

We didn’t have a reservation, but the wait was only about 20–25 minutes before we were seated. Definitely a place I’d visit again.

One of the best restaurants in KC. We made a reservation for the Chef’s Counter and it was so much more enjoyable than expected. The Head Chef, Megan, was so passionate and knowledgeable about the food being prepared. All our questions got answered and we were offered the opportunity to try some new things that we wouldn’t have chosen ourselves. Every bite was well balanced and fresh. The service was wonderful, our server, Eliza was so attentive and had great recommendations. Their menu changes seasonally which is so exciting because it means you can go back indefinitely and still find new experiences to enjoy. Definitely try the Tempura Banana, even if you don’t like bananas, it’s incredible. Any other stand out bite is the Lobster Fish Bisque, so much more than a standard bisque, we plan on going back specifically for it.

Had a booking for my sister birthday dinner. At first everything was fine. The food is good and the atmosphere is nice. However I only give it a 2 star b/c the service was bad. Not sure what happened but we felt like we did not get the service that we expected for the price of the food. Our servers never really come by just only for the food. She also forgot our birthday complementary dish. However, the guest next to us got theirs. Once she took our checked she never come back to our table. So we didn’t even have the chance to ask or tell her. Just overall we left the restaurant disappointed. For the price we paid we should have been treated better.

Went in on a Wednesday night with a booking for 2. We’re seated in a booth style seat and table setup and service was lovely. Ordered a few dishes to share (recommended) to start and the pacing of the food was perfect so you enjoyed each dish on its own and didn’t really mix flavors. Cocktails were well presented and tasty. The best part was the dessert! Highly recommend for a great food and atmosphere, for a reasonable higher end menu price. Will be back for sure! Might be one of my new favorites in KC! Also check out the door in the way in.

Love… love…. Love the concept of the table seating. I had the chefs table reservations and let’s just say, amazing does not do it justice. From the service to the food to the decor… Noka should be on your list to try.

We had a great dining experience at Noka. One thing we were impressed with was the creative use of organ meats in many dishes and a nice array of sans alcohol cocktails. We ordered the shishito peppers with shaved beef heart, bone marrow pate, beggar's duck (fun presentation under baked clay), short ribs, asparagus and creme brûlée (we loved the orange zest and spun sugar that gets reduced by the flame for the crunchy top). Also, go to the bathroom! The sink is incredible. I am concerned about water damage (read mold/mycotoxins) developing on the wood below from the drippy hands at the neat control lever. We sat at the chef's counter and will do that again next time--it was fun to see all the dishes about to be served!
